Matt Harding, a video gaming designer and Internet celebrity. He was just like any other gamers, but is one who was daring enough to pursue his dreams.
'(Wikipedia) Harding claims that a sarcastic joke about the popularity of shoot 'em up games led Pandemic Studios to develop the game Destroy All Humans!, on which he received a conceptual credit. Saying he "didn't want to spend two years of my life writing a game about killing everyone", he quit his job and began traveling, leading to the production of his first video.'
I respect him, for giving up everything and spending all his fortune to fulfil his goals.
He eventually was invited to star in Visa's commercial (if you recall the dude dancing)!
Traveling around the world is also one of my dreams, and he is a perfect example why I should continue on this passion. It's good to get out of a mundane life for once, and step out from this red dot exploring the fantastic world that has her hands readily reached out for us. The different sights, sound, history, culture, people, food and languages. Those are what makes up an experience I believe we should all be a part of. However, tagging along with tour groups ain't the kind of traveling I'm opting for...
Entering shops that sells "local products" (those 'tai tou diam'), going into shopping malls of different countries, visiting landmarks where you'll see other tourists crowding around...
That is boring. No one wants those expensive local stuff, no one is willing to travel overseas to see familiar shops in the malls, I could even find those typical landmarks on postcards or even facebook!
I strongly feel that what brings out the fun of traveling would be to plan your route neatly, save up enough for the travel, grab a friend or two with similar passion along, and set off together moving around by ourselves.
Yes it is important to study well now and get a good job blah blah, that's just phase one. However it'll all be pointless indulging oneself solely to earn money.
Instead, set aside a sum, spend them on something that'll make your life more meaningful. Not on gambling, not on drugs. Not on lavish parties, not on luxurious properties. But something healthy and constructive.
Visiting places not many has walked before.
Walking on paths with only few or no footsteps at all.
I feel that those are the most momentous parts of traveling. I'm looking forward to the arrival of this day, hopefully a time during my twenties or thirties.
Nevertheless, how far I'd go is proportional to how well prepared I am physically and finantially. I need the health and the wealth to do it, that's a fact we can never deny. Work hard Guowei, life's good.
If you ask me what's life, I'd tell you it's the joy of achieving dreams.
Health's seemingly deteriorating. Almost a week of medication has yet to show any improvement. Going for a revisit perhaps this Saturday, if however fails, it'll be necessary for a check up in the hospital already. Lung infection, throat infection, or anything alike, wouldn't be good. Already prepared for the worst, if you know what I mean...
No joke at all now.
Sunday's beatboxer gather gather session, Tuesday-Wednesday TAG camp.
With this cough, it's quite a turn off. Hmm nonetheless I'd still be attending((:
